DARKEST HOUR is the dramatic and inspiring story of four weeks in 1940 during which Winston Churchill changed the course of world history. With Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain forced to resign less than a year into World War II, Churchill is chosen as his replacement. He is faced by an almost impossible situation: with resources dwindling and the fall of France imminent, Foreign Secretary Viscount Halifax’s reports to the War Cabinet to push for peace talks with Hitler. The fate of Western Europe hangs on the leadership of Churchill who must confront the ultimate choice: negotiate, or rally the nation and fight on against incredible odds – an unprepared public, a sceptical King, and his own party plotting against him. Delivering one of the year’s standout performances, Gary Oldman stuns as Winston Churchill for which he won both the Oscar and BAFTA for Best Actor whilst his transformations also won his support team the BAFTA and Oscar for best make-up. Kristen Scott Thomas plays Churchill’s wife Clementine with Lily James as his personal secretary,
