The Yarn & Thread Group has just started its second year and meets twice each month, 2nd & 4th Monday mornings, at Bar Cappucino in Orba.
There are presently ten to fifteen members at each meeting, where they get the opportunity of lots of discussion, demonstrations and tuition on all aspects of the group’s interests – as well as the opportunity to enjoy the delicious refreshments on offer.
During their first year they have successfully tried knitting, with examples of knitted Xmas figures shown in the photos, crochet, patchwork, with Ditas showing her ongoing quilt in the photos, and various embroidery techniques. The beauty of the
group is that the members have a very wide range of yarn and thread skills, so you do not have to be an expert as there is always someone to give tuition and importantly encouragement to start your own project.
The group are currently collecting knitted and crocheted squares to make a blanket for charity, as well as gathering ideas for their Xmas project of seasonal tablemats.
They would also be very pleased to add more members so why not go along and join them, you may enjoy the opportunity to meet new friends and to gain new interests. Anyone is welcome to come and see what is going on, but you will have to be a U3A member in order to join the Group.
