Tuesday 20th November was a special night for the U3A Vall del Pop Singers when they organised a concert of popular songs from the shows including Oliver, Joseph and Sweet Charity. The evening got off to a great start with Cava and Buck Fizz.
Philip Ashley the Musical Director added to the evening with a solo performance of a tune from Aspects of Love and a Neil Diamond tune “Beautiful Noise”.
The second half contained a number of popular tunes and the audience enjoyed singing along to such tunes as “Andante” and “The Piper”, both popular Abba Tunes. Carole King’s ‘Tapestry” was the highlight of the night, hence the title of
the concert.
The evening managed to raise 350€ for Jalon Valley Help which was presented to the President, Elaine Horton. The event was such a success that the choir is thinking of organizing another concert in the spring. Now they are very active with all the Christmas performances including Fontilles where the choir go every year to sing a range of Christmas Carols and songs and the very popular ‘Carols in the Square” in both Alcalali and Jalon, held on the 17th and 18th December.
