We were recently contacted by one of our u3a members, Sheila Skinner, who knew of a large children’s trampoline that was being donated to raise funds for Make a Smile children’s charity. Sadly it could not be used by the children’s home in Benissa that we support due to their Health and Safety regulations.
Sheila approached the Goodwill team to see if we would buy it and donate it to the Murla school as they would welcome it with open arms. A teacher is always in attendance when the children are outside so can ensure it is used safely. So on Friday 8th November Marian White and Sally Ellis from the Goodwill team, plus Peter Ellis, met Sheila, the kind donors and Raquel, the head teacher, to receive it and assemble it ready for the children.
It took two hours of hard work, head scratching and Peter having to pop home to source extra screws etc!! But with help from others and great teamwork the trampoline was ready for use and the children were very excited. We are delighted to be able to donate this on your behalf and I’m sure when u3a’s Santa visits in December we will see it in use. We may even hear the squeals of delight from our General Assemblies! Thank you to Sheila for organising this and Marian, Sally and Peter for your hard work.
