We went to the beautiful city of Valencia for the day. Leaving a cool and rather damp Jalon at 8 o’clock to travel in a comfortable coach, we had the best part of 6 hours to explore the city as we wished.
There are so many things to do, plenty of culture in the historic centre, the cathedral, the silk exchange, museums, exhibitions (Tutankhamen). The ancient roman ruins in Ammonia Museum.
Many shopping opportunities lovely shops and the popular Central Market, one of the most alive and appetizing in Europe, the fresh produce is fantastic with such variety and colour.
The architecture and history of this market is stunning. We also of course took advantage of the many places to sit and enjoy a break from walking with a tapas and glass of wine. The Plaza de la Virgen was a spot where many of us found ourselves for our first coffee of the day. We were so lucky with the weather it was warm and sunny.
We returned home by coach leaving at 4 o’clock, during which we had a free raffle and sweets to share. A very enjoyable day, thanks to Jeannie for organising and Paula for leading the day. Special mention to the Birthday boy Alan.
