Mahjong is a traditional chinese game played with tiles, similar to playing cards, and is often enjoyhed by four players. Each player starts with a set of 13 tiles and the goal is to form specific combinations, like pairs or sets of three, by drawing and discarding tiles.
The game is somewhat like a puzzle where players aim to complete their hand before others. While it may seem complex at first, the basic idea is to match tiles based on suits and numbers. It involves strategy, skill, and a bit of luck, making it fun and engaging for players of all levels.
We meet on Fridays 2pm at Riu Jau, Jalon where we play to simple rules in an encouraging and helpful non-competitive and friendly environment. So, if you have not played previously you will be encouraged to observe, ask questions and even play a few games with "open hand" before moving on. Soon you will be purchasing your own mahjong set!
