On Tuesday, 15th November saw 32 ladies of the Vall del Pop U3A make a welcome return visit to the Don Quixote Restaurante in Orba. The restaurant soon filled up with our group and another party of 20.
On Sunday 6th November a coachload from the Vall del Pop U3A ‘swinging sixties’ era descended on Benidorm Palace for an evening of remembrance of our youth for a one-off performance entitled ‘Twist & Shout’ and what an evening it was. For two hours the group, six singers and their four piece backing group, sang and danced us through the sounds we had all grown up with and without a break for breath they took us effortlessly through all of the expected hits and many more.
The team have been extremely busy during the last 6 months and the funds raised now stand at over 5000€. At the Christmas General Assembly on the 8th December we will announce the charities that will benefit from all your support in raising these much needed funds.
Last Thursday, 3rd November, another full house of members attended the Vall del Pop U3A General Assembly for what turned out to be an entertaining and informative morning. Prior to the meeting we were all able to enjoy Paula’s home-made sausage rolls with our coffee whilst we tackled Bill’s Quiz and let the ladies perused the pre-loved stall. In excess of 160euro for the Goodwill Teams charity fund – thank you to everyone who contributed.
Last week new members, Liz and Alistair Macleod, hosted a fun evening of Trivia (Quiz) and Bingo at Pepe’s restaurant in Alcalai. This was a new event for Vall del Pop U3A but 40 members decided to test their brains on the trivia quiz, working in teams of four, and their luck with the bingo. We all agreed that a simple meal choice of chicken & chips or fish & chips would be good, and I have to say that Pepe's team did us proud.
On Tuesday 18th October, on a gloriously sunny autumn afternoon, 31 ladies from the Vall del Pop U3A enjoyed a lovely get together and lunch at La Solana restaurant, Alcalali. With the weather being so kind we were able to sit outside in the garden at two long tables, which allowed for lots of chatting and laughter.
