Ladies At Lunch

Ladies At Lunch & New Groups

On Tuesday 18th October, on a gloriously sunny autumn afternoon, 31 ladies from the Vall del Pop U3A enjoyed a lovely get together and lunch at La Solana restaurant, Alcalali. With the weather being so kind we were able to sit outside in the garden at two long tables, which allowed for lots of chatting and laughter.

The food was delicious: shared starters, of cold meats/cheese and goats cheese salad with cranberries with nuts, followed by options of salmon, Dorada, lamb from the oven, Solomillo of pork and vegetarian options, all served with fries and vegetables. The food was freshly prepared, plentiful portions and well presented. For dessert we enjoyed a mango sorbet with fresh pineapple. The meal was accompanied by wines, water or soft drinks to individual choices.

Sincere thanks to the staff at La Solana who made us so welcome and looked after us so well. It is always lovely to see so many old and new friends enjoying each other's company. We all had a very enjoyable afternoon and we hope you will be able to join us next month, the venue and menu will be advised later.

The new season has seen three new groups starting their activities, so why not try something new. The groups are:

  • Petanque – every Wednesday, 11.00 – 1.00pm, at Petanque pitches in Lliber
  • Canasta – every Tuesday, 2.00pm, at Riu Rau in Jalon
  • Jewellery Making – every other Monday, next meeting 7th November 10.00am, upstairs at Cas Claudia in Jalon.

The ever popular Keep Fit group is now running four sessions each week. Mondays at 10.00am and 11.00am at Los Amigos in Alcalali and Wednesday at 10.00am and Friday at 11.00am at Poli Deportivo in Jalon.

Finally, the Lets Sing Along group celebrated their first anniversary in September, so why no go along and enjoy the fun singing your favourite songs – 2.30pm at Black Apple, now called Third Age, in Jalon.

At the next General Assembly, on Thursday 3rd November at the Polivalent Murla, the speaker will be Pete Cleary, telling us all about his experiences with the Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue. One that you really shouldn't miss.
