David led us through the last in the series of his excellent talks and he will be going ‘back to basics’ in the autumn. The collapse of the New Kingdom was caused by a whole series of events — famine, climate change and earthquakes which brought about the demise of other civilisations, Mycenaean Greece, the Hittite empire and the Babylonians. The Trojan War didn’t help, and Egypt was ‘invaded’ by a large number of people from across land and sea, which were known as the Sea Peoples. As they brought their wives and children with them, it was more a migration from their own lands than an actual invasion. This was followed by civil unrest in Thebes, with the tomb workers going on strike - the first ever recorded in history!
We used to list our members ‘small ads’ in the newsletter. For various reasons we couldn’t continue with it in the old format but I intend to reinstate it from September, ONLY in the newsletter. I will list what is for sale, the price wanted, and the name, phone number, and/or e-mail address of the seller ~
PROVIDING he or she is willing to have this information in the NL of course!

The venue was new to most of the members and comprises three beautiful stone buildings, with arched nayas, and an infinite pool, as the basis of their restaurant and Spa.
After a long illness, Malcolm passed away on Wednesday 22nd May.
A number of U3A Presidents, their partners, charity workers and volunteers from Aged Concern, MABs, The Samaritans and many others groups from across the Alicante region, said a fond farewell to Simon Manley on Tuesday at a reception in Alicante.
